Though cited as two separate letters, 1 and 2 Corinthians, the original letters are more likely to have been shorter notes written by Paul to the Christians of the city in the years immediately after his visit (c.AD 50-51). They were probably assembled in their current form after Paul's death when his Letters were copied for other Christian centres.
