Chester Beatty: The Paintings

Sir Alfred Chester Beatty’s French nineteenth-century paintings today form part of the collections of the National Gallery of Ireland. Opening in September, the Library will exhibit a selection of these works, courtesy of the Gallery, which will include important Orientalist paintings by Jean-Léon Gérôme and Eugène Fromentin; as well as Barbizon and Realist works by Jules Breton, Thomas Couture and Jean-Louis-Ernest Meissonier.
